Real Madrid 'will move' for Chelsea star after Super Cup woe - and it is not Eden Hazard!

news-details

Julen Lopetegui suffered a huge blow to his reign as Real Madrid manager after losing 4-2 to local rivals Atletico in the European Super Cup.

Diego Costa scored a brace in normal time before Saul and Koke netted two beauties in extra time to become the first side since Barcelona in November 2015 to sink four against Los Blancos.

It was a deserved victory for the Rojiblancos, who were pegged back by goals from Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos.

And for Real it worryingly highlighted the weaknesses in the squad after Cristiano Ronaldo's shock departure to Juventus.

It has sparked club president Florentino Perez into action, who has signed three players for his new manager this summer so far.

Vinicius Junior and Alvaro Odriozola both arrived at the Bernabeu earlier in the summer whilst Chelsea reluctantly let Thibaut Courtois go last week.

But the European champions are not done ransacking the Blues for players this transfer window yet - with a surprise name on Perez's list.

The player on Perez and Lopetegui's radar is fellow Spaniard Marcos Alonso, according to Don Balon.

The publication, known for their wild transfer rumours, have stated that Los Blancos are determined not to experience a disastrous season.

And Alonso has been pinpointed as one of the solutions to a leaky defence.

One star that has been continually linked with a move to the Spanish capital is Hazard - who has flirted with a transfer in the past.

However, after losing one key player it is unlikely the Stamford Bridge outfit will let another go.

And that would also apply to Alonso, who looks set to have secured the first-team left-back role under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

Meanwhile, the ex-Spain manager will have a chance to make up for his blip when Real host Getafe on the first day of the domestic season.
